A Simpler Way of LivingWe live right in front of this incredible volcano that I've completely fallen in love with. Today it's hidden behind the clouds, and we can't see it. But that's okay. I'm not here on vacation. I'm here to live my life. That realization has completely changed my perspective. I don't mind that it rains every day, and I don't mind that the volcano isn't visible this morning. I'm not trying to squeeze every possible experience into a short holiday. This is simply my everyday life. When the clouds eventually part and the volcano reveals itself again, it'll feel like a beautiful surprise. That's something I truly look forward to. My whole perception of travel has changed. I no longer feel like I have to fill every day with exciting excursions or tourist attractions. Instead, I'm simply living. Learning. Experiencing life one day at a time. The highlights of our days aren't the big adventures anymore. They're the simple moments. Meeting local people. Listening to the roosters in the morning. Watching daily life unfold around us. Those ordinary moments have become far more meaningful than many of the tourist activities I used to prioritize. They're no longer experiences I'm checking off a list. They're simply part of our life. One of my favorite quotes came up during a business networking meeting today. It's by Nelson Mandela: "If you talk to a man in a language he understands, that goes to his head. If you talk to him in his own language, that goes to his heart." I see the truth of that quote almost every day. When I lived in Quebec and spoke French, I noticed how much more quickly people opened up when I spoke to them in their first language. Now, here in Costa Rica, even using the few Spanish phrases I know has transformed our experience. People smile. Conversations begin. We've already made friends because of those small efforts to speak their language. It changes everything. One of the things I'm most grateful for is being able to manage my company from wherever I am. My entire team continues to do an incredible job, and because my business is now 100% online, everything runs smoothly no matter where I'm working from. Today, that happens to be Costa Rica. I truly love being an entrepreneur. I worked hard for many years to build a business that supports this lifestyle. It didn't happen overnight. It took patience, persistence, and countless small steps to get here. And now I'm living the life I once imagined. We've intentionally moved into a much smaller home, and I've discovered that we really don't need very much. A simpler life has brought more freedom than I ever expected. Even though today is rainy, we're planning to spend the afternoon visiting some beautiful hot springs. We'll work during the morning, enjoy the afternoon, and then come home together. Nothing extraordinary. Just our life. And honestly, that's exactly what I dreamed of creating.
